Surveys

Ayerst Environmental can help ensure that you meet your legal duty to protect employees, tenants and others from asbestos-related diseases.

We provide consultancy service to aid clients in adhering to the regulations. An effective way of collecting the information from which to manage the risk is by surveying buildings for asbestos.

Our team of experienced asbestos surveyors are qualified to carry out asbestos surveys of large and small buildings, industrial sites, offices, shops and other sites to the standards set out in the Health & Safety Executive Guidance HSG264. There are two types of survey.

Management Survey

This survey locates the presence, nature and extent of any suspected asbestos-containing materials in the building, including an assessment of their condition. Samples are taken to verify the presence of asbestos. The samples that are collected are analysed in our laboratory for the presence of asbestos.

Refurbishment and Demolition survey

The refurbishment and demolition survey establishes and describes ALL asbestos-containing materials in the building as far as is reasonably practicable and may involve destructive inspection techniques. The volume of asbestos materials will be established, but no assessment of condition will be made other than to highlight areas of significant damage or debris.

Ayerst Environmental can advise you which type of survey you require to help meet your legal obligations regarding asbestos identification and management. For example, some asbestos may need to be removed quickly whilst other material can remain in site subject to certain criteria. Please note that all our surveys contain photographs of areas sampled, together with recommendations of what to do next.
